After spending twelve weeks completing my internship alongside the venue management team at GOLDOC, i have learnt a lot, made many observations and asked many my colleagues and new found superiors many questions. I aimed to find out what their professional backgrounds were, and whether sporting events were there area of expertise, or they were into areas of event management.
Many of their answers intrigued me which got me thinking about my own career path.

I believe the job i have listed for straight after graduation would still be a viable option for me, as the schedule isn't large, theirs still room for learning and improvement, and it was in a classroom setting.

If i had to comment on where i want my future after that job to take me, i would say i would like to branch off into the music festival area of event management. Ive always loved large music festivals, and through talking with certain colleagues at GOLDOC and finding out the options and pathways i can take to get myself into the industry, it only made more sense that i follow what i really want to do.

I made a few contacts in my time at GOLDOC that will be able to help me get my foot in the door, and i understand the jobs will be small at first, but eventually i would love to land jobs at music festivals in the management level, and travel the world delivering music festivals to numerous countries.

In saying this, its just rather extraordinary how opinions and views can change, and how confidence can be built to really chase your dreams once you've spoken to people with real life experience. If i hadn't taken part in this internship, i wouldn't have met any of these great people I've worked with over the twelve weeks. I'm really thankful for my time at GOLDOC, as i feel that its launched my career path in a new direction.
